The placenta contains your own natural hormones and is perfectly made for you, by you. Experts agree that the placenta retains hormones. Reintroducing them to your system is believed to ease postpartum and menopausal hormonal fluctuations.

Placenta Services FAQ

Yes absolutely in my years of experience I have not had an issue with clients being able to have their placenta released to them. Most hospitals in our area will require that you sign a release liability waiver.

* However in the event that the placenta needed to be sent down to pathology for testing, you would NOT be able to encapsulate after that point as the placenta will likely come into contact with preservatives unsafe for consumption.

Your particular birth choices or outcomes will not affect whether or not your placenta can be encapsulated. Placentas birthed with epidurals, IV Pain medication during labour, Pitocin inductions, and cesarean sections are still viable options for encapsulation.

I suggest clients bring either 2 freezer zip lock bags or a cooler with them to the hospital. Once the placenta is birthed you will want to keep it on ice as soon as possible (No more than 4 hours at room temperature) If you are using freezer bags fill one bag with ice and put the placenta into the other bag then place the placenta bag into the ice bag until I have come to pick it up. If you have brought a cooler with you please ensure the placenta is still in a bag and then submerged in the ice. Please note that I will also bring a cooler with me for pick up.
